Kanepi Gymnasium held a Teaching/Learning/Training Activity 29.04.-05.05.2018 in Estonia, Kanepi.
The main aim of the meeting in Estonia was to show the ways of reducing stress at school through outdoor activities and motivating students through different workshops. Teambuilding game in the forest, rafting on the river, photo hunting game in the village and football match of mixed teams encouraged the students to communicate with each other in English. The students learned how to achieve good results in teamwork, they obtained necessary skills moving in the nature and understood that outdoors is also a learning environment. Positive relationships were built and carried out during the whole meeting.
According to the goal of the meeting the students presented the videos on topic sports and booklets of outdoor activities and yoga. They were prepared to show several aspects of sports the youth practiced in other countries and to develop technological skills of the students. The arts, handicraft and science workshops were there to show the learning in a different classroom, to manage overcoming anxiety within the traditional classroom and to motivate the students to participate individually and in teams. The yoga session by professional coach provided the students with the techniques of coping with stress and gaining inner peace.
The Estonian evening with folk dances, folk songs and games introduced the students of seven different countries to each other and developed a positive European atmosphere. The aim to gain was providing the motivation of students for learning and socializing and creating opportunities for them to involve themselves in various activities. The study trips to the outdoor Road Museum and Tartu Science centre proved that learning by practical doing is of interest and easily accepted by the students. The purpose of the visit to Tartu University was to show the students the possibilities of further studies.
